COLORED TABLES ON CANVAS

The book "Colored Tables on Canvas" highlights the symbolic and allegorical meaning of food in Art. The structure is ergocentric, i.e. the acquaintance with the artistic genre of still life and its understanding, arises through the works themselves. It contains creative exercises aiming to encourage the reader to assume the role of an artist himself, and for a better understanding of the concepts dealt with in the book, there is a small dictionary.

 LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

The book attempts to highlight the importance of Cultural Heritage, as an authentic presumption of the past, and its connection with tourist flows with a perspective of Sustainable Local Development. The utilization of the cultural elements of the past by the tourism industry is presented through examples of corresponding good practice. Specifically, an attempt is made to emphasize the special importance of the development and strengthening of cultural tourism in Corfu, with the aim of creating an attractive and efficient field for both tourists and its residents.

THE UTILIZATION OF THE VISUAL ARTS IN HIGH SCHOOL

The book contains a brief theoretical review of the teaching objectives and the methodology of the Visual Arts Course. Next, the theoretical development of the subject is enriched and documented with examples of good practice, i.e. eight applied teaching and experiential activities, carried out with high school students, during my twenty-year career as an Art teacher. It is hoped that the examples can function as food for thought and a stimulus for further processing, for imagination, for new teaching practices and visual creations.

THE WALK OF A LINE

This book was born in May 2009, together with my daughter, Melina. Therefore, it was written with an aim to bring art closer to children and to cultivate their yet plain and receptive soul with aesthetic sensitivity and imagination. The title is inspired by the words of Paul Klee: "A line is a dot that went for a walk". There are probably many ways to look at and interpret a work of art. The particular book makes use of a psycho-spiritual interactive process and a game of questions, in order to help children understand works of modern art. The book was also exploited as educational material by Dr Olga Moussiou-Mylonas a teacher at the 6th Primary School of Florina during school year 2021-22, who reported a distinguished impact of the book to the learning process.

GREGORY CHATZILAMPOU

Gregory Chatzilampou (1946-2018) was a self-taught painter, member of a wider group of post-war local artists who lived in Florina, Greece. His work, an important contribution to culture, was the main incentive for the writing of this book. In it, the reader can find a representative account of the artist, focusing mainly on the last twenty years of his work. Included are 35 reproductions of paintings, the Monument, dedicated to the "15 Hanged Greek Patriots" in Kladorachi, Florina, and a collection of photographs depicting personal moments of the artist as well as his social and political life.
